Slow Riot: Absent Dreams

This weekend I am definitely feeling this resurgence of new wave hooks and these layered, cinematic builds. Almost a year ago, Irish post-punk rockers Slow Riot released their debut EP, Cathedral. This record reflected on the impact of religion and community on how people pursue their dreams. “Absent Dreams” does not disappoint in its psychological meanderings.

Slow Riot is serving some diverse, refreshing sounds, channeling beautifully dynamic, spacious soundscapes, heavy walls of feedback with pop sensibilities, with an aim to challenge any preconceptions, as is the bands mantra. From the band, “Absent Dreams is about reaching the realization that those who affect your life negatively don’t need to be tolerated. It’s about looking for reasons to hold onto the past and not finding any.” Good lesson for the week.
