Escaping the Mundane with Kissy

Kissy, aka Sasha Ortiz, is a new singer/producer based in Brooklyn by way of Austin, Texas. She has toured as a backup singer for many artists including The Kills and Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. Her new single “Osaka” is a celebratory, lo-fi, electro-pop gem. Having danced on the streets of Osaka myself, I can feel the vibe of wanting to get away from New York and possibly stay/hide in another city. Like if I just cashed in my 401K and decided to grab a little Japanese studio and call it a day.

She says,”Osaka is a song about wanting to leave where you’re at for somewhere else. It’s about being tired of the mundane and wanting to start over somewhere new and seemingly exotic.” We’ve all had these fantasies on our commutes to the office no doubt.
