Broncho is an indie rock band based in Oklahoma and if the name sounds familiar, you’ve most likely heard “Class Historian,” a song whose hypnotizing “dah-dah-do-do-do-do” stuck in your mind for months following in 2014. Lately I’ve been really into “Highly Unintentional” with it’s laid back and gritty vibe. It makes me think of life choices, the close of 2016 in a few months, and question how much control we really have over so much in our lives.
The Oklahoma quartet’s blend of new-wave pop and fuzzy garage strums is further distinguished by frontman Ryan Lindsey’s androgynous and chameleonic vocals. Their third full-length, Double Vanity, finds the group in a ruminating, more complex space with plenty of reverb and bent notes — enough to make you uncomfortable, yet undeniably intrigued.
