Flying Ibex: A UK Afro Psych Pop Experiment

Flying Ibex started off as the church house band, improvising along to silent film projections, trapeze shows and offbeat theatre pieces, no doubt helping cement their musical relationship into something firmly malleable. They listen to old African pop cassettes and Brazilian Maracatu, mess around with delay pedals, and generally run down avenues of sound that are potentially as weird as they are potentially accessible.

Their new single, “Could Have Gone Your Way”, is an afro-beat inspired psych-pop track. If you’re familiar with Glass Animals, you’ll like this too. It’s full of retro-electronic synth and sounds like a strange experiment that has gone quite well.
