I met Mykki Blanco a few weeks ago to be part of a shoot for his upcoming visual campaign leading up to Friday’s release of the long-awaited Mykki. His music has always been the New York dream – raw, honest and filled with blood, sweat and tears.
He said it best – “Fuck the underground”- at a Brooklyn show I was at a few months back. Agreeably so because there are too many great artists making music to survive out here. For this new album, Mykki finally had a chance to take some sweet time curating it, with a break from touring and the right people around him. This is the kind of artist that I’d like to see with a VMA-level stage budget. Then maybe people would be watching.
Check out the teaser for Loner below. Album out 9/16.
